Mwinyi gets new wheels

When we first met Mwinyi 5 years ago he could only crawl on his hands and knees, so, with the help of Footsteps supporters, we bought him a mobility aid which enabled him to get around (photo far right), and, importantly, to go to school.
He's grown a bit since then, and so this week he was given a new tricycle to help him get around, much to the excitement of his school friends (photo right). The trike is made at the APDK Bombolulu workshop which employs disabled workers to make them.

Rotary party enjoy visit to Footsteps projects

Five members of the Rotary Club of Bromley enjoyed a week-long visit to Kenya during which they crammed in a visit to the Church on the Rock School to see the buildings which need urgent repair, a visit to the Sunshine Home to meet our ex-street boys, 2 Rotary club meetings and a safari to Lake Nakuru national park.
They also officially opened the Sunshine Borehole, a project funded jointly by the Rotary Clubs of Bromley and Nakuru and Rotary International.

Greenhouse gift increases crop yields

The boys at the Sunshine Home will soon be eating wonderful tomatoes and plump potatoes.
King's Church Orpington provided the finance to buy a greenhouse which will soon be increasing crop yields and reducing food bills for our 90 ex-street boys. Using an efficient drip-watering system, we will be able to grow crops which can't normally be grown due to lack of adequate rainfall. We plan to sell any surplus to help reduce the food bills.
